We thank our lucky stars (and a couple good friends) for encouraging us (forcing - in Kyle’s case) to attend the Beaufort Music Festival in May of 2022. While we sat next to each other, escaping the early summer heat under an event tent, we commiserated over our early careers in finance, reminisced on our childhoods in Virginia, and compared notes on the brand new Harry Styles album. The similarities and cohesion didn’t stop there, and never stopped. We’re so excited to celebrate our commitment to the life we’ve built together with you!

Vermilionville celebrates the vibrant, living history and cultures of the Native Americans, Acadians, Creoles, and Africans through the late 1800’s in south Louisiana.There are seven original homes restored plus other buildings to represent a typical Acadian settlement. Open Tuesdays through Sundays from 8am to 4pm.

Bon Temps Grill - Great variety of American and Cajun food Billy’s boudin - Gas station with Cajun delicacies such as boudin and cracklins Bordens Ice Cream - Old time ice cream parlor Central Pizza - Artisan pizza and wings Dons Seafood - Upscale southern seafood and steaks. Dwyer’s Cafe - Breakfast and lunch in old-time cafeteria style Frankie’s Daiquiri - Best drive thru daquiri, but be careful in surrounding area. Laura’s Two - Best local plate lunches but sells out early. Pamploma - Spanish tapas bar Pop’s Poboys - Fresh and creative poboy sandwiches Tsunami - Sushi!

Lafayette Eateries

Buck and Johnny’s - Cajun and Italian food with good drinks. They also have Zydeco Saturday breakfast but get in line way before they open. Reservations recommended Cajun Market Donut - The best pillowy soft donuts. Get there early as they sell out around 9:30. Best selection is usually around 6:30 Charlie T’s - Local meat market with cracklins and smoked chicken or seafood boudin Crawfish Town CT USA - Big restaurant with great Cajun food. Jeaux Biffs - Sandwich and fried food in a comfortably restored old house Le Cafe - Fried catfish and poboy sandwiches. Pizza Village - Local pizza favorite with cracker style crust. Get the Duke special with ground meat and shrimp. Poches Market and Restaurant - Great plate lunches plus a wide variety of meat and Cajun food to stock up your freezer. Point Breaux Coffee House - Great coffee and light breakfast food Turtles - Bar food overlooking the Atchafalaya Basin. Air boat tour depart from here.

Breaux Bridge and Nearby Eateries

While there are numerous other great restaurants in the area that are fantastic, the ones below might not give you the best food or experience. Randols - a popular spot for tour buses for Cajun dancing, but food isn’t good Crazy about Crawfish - inconsistent food quality and cleanliness Fat Pats - mediocre and expensive

Breaux Bridge and downtown Lafayette have great inexpensive Airbnb rentals Blue Moon Saloon Guesthouse - Comfortable beds in a house attached to a live music bar. Loud but unique experience Breaux Bridge Bayou Cabins - Rustic Cabins on the bayou. Just a couple of miles from the Garcia House. Camp Margaritaville Breaux Bridge - Campground with a few cabins. Locals bring their campers and party on the weekends, it fills up fast, but the pool is great. Doubletree Hotel - A nice Hilton hotel along the Vermillion River.

Atchafalaya Basin Airboat Tours - Fun boat rides through swampy waters with authentic locals. Pink Alligator Gallery- Great artwork from local artists in Breaux Bridge. Trove & Company - Great gift shop to pick up souvenirs in Breaux Bridge University of Louisiana - Stop by the student union to see alligators in the middle of campus Vermilionville - Historical Cajun settlement where the wedding is, but visit during park hours to see inside home, view demonstrations, and visit the awesome gift shop. Zydeco Breakfast - Saturday mornings in Breaux Bridge at Buck & Johnnys or Cafe Sydney Mae. Live music, dancing, and food. Lines are usually long to enter and start well before the restaurants open.

How feasible is a visit to New Orleans?

New Orleans is a two hour drive from Lafayette, Louisiana. But there are three traffic chokepoints that make that a lot longer: Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, Baton Rouge Mississippi River Bridge, and Lake Ponchatrain Bridge right before New Orleans
